There is always leader in every field of expertise. In business for example, there are names to be listed as business leader worldwide. In media industry, there are Rupert Murdoch, the CEO News Corporation, and Steve Forbes, the CEO of Forbes Business Magazine. As the richest businessman in the world, there is Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft software. There are still many other business leaders who cannot be mentioned one by one.
But, among all those leaders in business, there is a name which can be put alongside J.P. Morgan as business Leader in America. The name is Henry Kravis, the co-founder of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. This company specializes in leveraged buyout (LBO), an acquisition process in which the company borrows money to acquire the block of stock. By using the debt as the assumption, the company gradually takes over the management of the given company. Henry Kravis has already become one of the most influential investment bankers in this business as he successfully manages to acquire RJR Nabisco for more than $25 billion, such a huge amount of buyout in the centuries. In the mid of 1980s, there were two names to help KKR gain more and more profit. Those names were Michael Milken and Ivan Boesky from Drexel Burnham Lambert.
Despite of his business journey, Henry Kravis has also provided prize for non-profit leader from all over the world. The name of the prize is Kravis Prize which is administered by Claremont McKenna College. The prize is also associated with The Kravis Leadership Institute, one of the ten popular research institutes in CMC. The goal of the prize is to celebrate the accomplishment of the recipients who are recognized to inspire other people in the world through their non-profit works. The amount of the prize itself is $250,000.
