I completely forget that today is my son’s school exercise for fire safety. This is supposed to be my wife turn because the exercise usually takes a long time. It is always hard and even confusing to manage all little kids to get together in one place and lead them somewhere else. This process is the one I meant as a ‘long time’.
The exercise this time takes place in the school yard. I have seen several professional firemen setting up some things and put several fire extinguishers and some exit signs on some temporary boards.

Apparently they are making certain kind of small path or alley in the open space of the yard. The path is lined up by red ribbons on both sides as borders. The kids will move along following the red ribbons which lead them to the hall door. I also see two fire trucks are parked by the school gate. Perhaps they are to give more impression in this exercise. Time is coming; more than 200 kids are gathering there in the schoolyard and slowly they are managed and arranged to be in several lines. I see my son as he is waving his hands to me. I replied smilingly.

As I estimated, this exercise process surely takes long. But I just laugh and smile, so do other students’ parents presence. A lot of funny things happen and it is only because they are just still kids. Their innocence truly represents who they are.

The practice is started. Once the kids hear the sound of fire alert from the school, they must go out from the class without panic and get themselves in line led by their teachers. Then they move along the red line as if they are walking down the school corridor, following some big letters of EXIT SIGNS provided there to make things easy for the kids. Being led in group, the kids are carefully and slowly steps several blocks drawn on the yard floor as if they are going downstairs. It’s really smart idea.

On the other edge, under another exit sign stuck on the hall door, it is the way to go out to the open area. In this exercise, they must enter the hall to exit from the fire, and when they get inside the hall, it means that they are safe. Well, I am apparently carried away by the exercise; but telling the truth, everybody involved seems to do their parts very seriously.
